Wondering if anyone else has had experience with this.

Long story but basically have had an accidental finding of something not right with my liver since end of april. Went to GP with what I thought was a UTI, ran bloods and liver function was raised which GP wanted to repeat. Have had monthly bloods pretty much since April and everytime the level has raised higher. In Junes set of bloods GP did a full work up incase it needed hospital referral. Phone call from GP this week and one of the tests for anti smooth muscle antibodies was positive and she mentioned auto immune disease and hepatitis. I don’t think I took it all in or really thought to ask the question as I wasn’t expecting her to say anything like that. Obviously dr Google has thrown my anxiety off so wondering if anyone else has any experience with this kind of thing and what the outcome was. I’m being referred to hospital but she said they may or may not want to do anything. But then she didn’t really say what the next steps are in relation to this finding other than repeat bloods in 2 months time.

TIA!

Hello, i’m going through exactly this at the moment. I’d love to connect. Again total accidental findings from routine blood test. Totally panicked and would love to have someone to talk to about this.

@Northstar1234

so weird to hear of someone else in same position.

fortunately I’ve just been given the all clear by the liver specialists at the hospital I was referred to.

they feel that it was just post having a baby etc that has affected the results.

had some further bloods and a more in detail scan and all came back in normal range.

let me know if I can help you any further though

oh wow this is what i needed to hear. I’m so pleased it was a false positive. I’m currently trying to live in the moment and
block it out. Mine was found on routine bloods for another condition. I feel really well and have no symptoms at all so it was all a bit of a shock to be honest.

@Northstar1234 fingers crossed it’s a similar situation for you too then!

they told me the two main symptoms were fatigue and large abdomen both of which I could put down to just having another baby etc but it did make me worry.

the way I tried to approach it was at least it had been picked up if there was an issue etc rather than it going on for years until symptoms started
