AIBU to ask my GP to test me for pernicious anaemia?
Blood test results:
Serum B12: 281ng/L (range 200-900)
Serum folate: 4.8ng/ml (range 3-12)
MCV: 103fl (range 80-100) - I’m consistently close to top end of the range
MCH: 33.1pg (range 26.5-31.5) - I’m consistently over range on this one
Diagnosed coeliac and family history of PA.
Feel like I’ll be fobbed off because B12 and folate are in normal range and not too sure what to say to the GP.
Symptoms that led me to the dr in the first place are excessive bruising for no reason but now looking at the pernicious anaemia website I can see I quite a few symptoms on their checklist including hair falling out and crippling anxiety.
What do you think? Will they tell me I’m in range so it’s fine?
For reference, I’ve only had one blood test for B12 before in 2015 and the result was 318ng/L, folate 5.3ng/ml
