I thought I had an under active thyroid (actually was convinced I had Hashimoto's thyroiditis) but TSH level is 0.07

I have really painful knees/hips/hands and big toe joints (2 orthopaedic consultants I've seen have done MRI's and my osteo arthritis is fine and shouldn't be producing this pain)

Both consultants say because of the hands/big toes that it's likely auto immune. So I have very painful joints/fatigue as my symptoms (I wake up in pain during the night)

Blood tests say:

Rheumatoid factor < 20 negative
Antibody < 0.5 negative

The results that are positive are to do with my liver:

Serum Alanine 50 (above high reference limit)
Bilirubin 5
Alkaline phosphate 75
Albumin 33

Erythrocytes sedimentation rate 52 above high reference limit

Sodium 139
Potassium 47
Creatinine 67

Any idea what's wrong with me?

Not thyroid, not rheumatoid arthritis, I'm already on HRT...

(Other minor results attached) and going for diabetes and heart check next week

I have similar symptoms nothing shows in blood results I have Palindromic Rheumatoid (sharp sporadic pain) and Sjogrens (general joint pain and fatigue). It took 4.5 years to get the diagnosis…. I take hydroxychloroquine every day and it’s really helped. I’ve also gone gluten free which has eliminated the residual pain. The hydroxychloroquine took 7 months to work

Could it be Gouty Arthritis?

SparkleSky · 23/02/2022 16:04

Lupus?

Cinnabomb · 23/02/2022 16:13

Your GP should be doing a further auto immune screen of blood tests, there are lots of other antibodies that can be measured eg antiphospholipid

FatCatThinCat · 23/02/2022 16:15

No idea, but whatever you have I think I have the same.

It's also possible to have sero-negative RA. Which means you have RA, just not showing up in certain blood tests. Does the pain and swelling subside as your day progresses, and then return later? Document when and what you feel at certain points of day, what you've had to eat or drink. Any other stressors on your body, etc.

Twilightstarbright · 24/02/2022 22:04

Another suggestion of sero -negative RA.

Has your B12 been checked?

There are lots of 'overlap' diseases which muddy the waters for clear diagnosis. This is a helpful resource that may help identify or rule out certain things

If you do have Hashimotos then your TSH could swing between being very high and very low before your thyroid is finally destroyed, so a low TSH doesn’t necessarily rule it out. Have you had previous blood tests to compare it to?

8lue8ird · 24/02/2022 22:41

Fibromyalgia? I had all your symptoms and after months worth of investigations that's the best I got .Comes and goes in waves and has moved from my small joints to my big ones but it's different for everybody.

Hope you get some answers

KatyMac · 24/02/2022 22:51

Have you had your b12 and d tested?

BirdOnTheWire · 28/02/2022 14:00

Have you seen a rheumatologist?

ErniesGhostlyGoldtops · 06/03/2022 08:58

Watch any video with Sally K Norton. You might have a critical load oxalates.

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 06/03/2022 09:44

I have Lupus. It's a systemic disease and can attack anywhere in your body so I'm wondering if that's why your liver results are high? Armchair doctor here not medic!

Watch the youtube video of Paul Mason MD talking about lectins in plants. Maybe try the carnivore diet for 60 days to see if the inflammation goes down (it will).
