Dniece(28) is very unwell in hospital (ulcerative colitis/c diff infection they can't get under control) and it's looking like she will be getting an emergency ileostomy in the next couple of days. ☹️

Can anyone, who has been through this, recommend things she'll need so I can get them ordered for her coming out. Was thinking of the best underwear or bag covers, storage boxes etc. and ideas of how many she'll need.

Dn had her ileostomy yesterday, surgeon told her mum it "went as well as could be expected", whatever that means. They started with keyhole but had to open her up a bit more as the bowel was so inflamed. She now has a hospital aquired infection to cope with too.

Hopeful bump for any recommendations for suppliers of bag covers/underwear or anything else that will help her when she eventually gets out.

Wishing her well. You sound like the loveliest of aunties.

In all honesty, I wouldn't get her any little presents related to her surgery. It's all new and raw for her and she needs time to come to terms with it.

She'll be feeling physically uncomfortable and psychologically self-conscious and might prefer a gift that was nothing to do with the operation.

If it were me, I would absolutely love any of these - flowers, hand cream, get well teddy bear, nice pyjamas (not tight), fluffy socks, cosy slippers, magazines, novels, scented candles, shower gel, body lotion.
