Rang docs for test results and they said the thyroglobulin result was back and that I had to speak to the doctor within a month. Doctor had left for the day so will speak to them next week.

Has anyone had this and did it mean thyroid cancer? I am thinking that if it was serious they wouldnt have said to contact doctor within a month would they. They would have contacted me. Though raised levels are an indicator of cancer cells I know that much!

So am just wondereing what it could mean. Have been on 100mcg Levo for years, u/a thyroid for 25 years.

Any experiences appreciated. Thank you

Thyroglobulin rest looks for the antibody to thyroglobulin a protein made by the thyroid gland. It indicates that your body is working to destroy this protein not associated with cancer. Thyroid cancer associated with hypothyroidism has the signs of soft persistent cough, inability to raise your voice and discomfort when swallowing.

I have raised anti-thyroglobulin antibodies. There is no suggestion that it’s linked to cancer. It’s associated with hypothyroidism: thyroiduk.org/hypothyroid-basics/hypothyroidism/hypothyroidism-an-overview/

There’s lots of help available here: healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk

As you progress through hypothyroidism, the antibody levels can fluctuate. As you already know you are hypo this probably won’t change things for you much.
