Hello! I currently take 20mg of methotrexate, weekly. I'm about anxious at the thought of getting coronavirus. How do others on immunosuppressant meds feel? And what extra precautions are you taking? Thanks

How is everyone? I've got over my miserableness Grin. I've had a busy couple of days actually.

Yesterday, I decided there was no reason why I couldn't go and stand in my mates front garden for a chat. It's the same as DD being here in my garden. I took the car for a spin, ie the long route home, afterwards, so I was out for an hour, which was nice!

One of my bosses called me and asked me to make a birthday cake for the Head. I told him I'd try to fit it in to my busy schedule!Wink

One of my 'hats' at work, is baker, so I'm thrilled to do it. He's collecting that from me on Saturday, so need to get a move on.

Had a Zoom meeting with work today, which was all a bit last minute. I had 10 minutes notice! I knew there was a reason I got up, dressed, hair and makeup done every day! (Phew!)

Then the garden centre plants arrived 5 days sooner than I expected, so absolutely delighted by that! The fella delivering was rather lovely too, so I might have to buy more random plants I don't need, in the hope he comes back!!Grin

Jolly upbeat today!

It sounds like you've had a splendid few days! Send the delivery chap round here Wink also, cake please!

I'm doing ok really. I'm plotting an idea where dh can drop me off and I can walk back from somewhere as I might be running out of socially distanced walking space. I also managed to claim my self employment grant today, which takes much of the sting out of losing a lot of work recently. I think pizza tomorrow night to celebrate!

MaureenMLove · 14/05/2020 17:16

That's great news! I will not be sharing garden man sadly. I too am going to change my walking route, to take in the garden centre!Wink. It's only a little local one in a small parade of shops. Trouble is I might look a bit sweaty by the time I get there, so I'm thinking drive round there and walk the last 50 yards!Grin

Dressed in your best clothes? Grin

Just found this thread...I'm on 20mg methotrexate for vasculitis ( which ironically is similar to the Kawasaki illness children have been getting with Covid)
I also have high blood pressure ( due to the vasculitis) so I've been shielding since late March and been advised to do so until mid June ....
However I live in Wales and think there's going to be a further extension to this period of shielding, but we're going to be advised in next couple of weeks...
Im now beginning to get cabin fever....I was just getting some level of fitness back since becoming seriously unwell 3 years ago but apart from pottering in garden , I'm missing swimming and going to gym
I'm also feeling so guilty as I'm a specialist HCP and have only just been able to work from home but missing my colleagues on the front line ....wonder if I'll ever be able to return to work at this rate

I know how you feel. I am so desperate to be part of school again, but clearly that's not going to happen. I sent a birthday cake to my head teacher yesterday, via another colleague. It was so nice to see him in real life! I then received a lovely email from the Head. He's been a close colleague for many years, not just as head and it's clear from his message that he doesn't want to see me any time soon.

I just wish the shielding group got as much info as everyone else! It must be our turn for some more advice soon!

I still don't believe that I'm that much more at risk that the 'normal' person, but I'm still doing as I'm told.

Just watching a clip of Trump telling the world how he has been taking hydroxychloroquine every day, because 'what have you got to lose?'

I assume he's had an eye test, bloody test and chest X-ray or I guess his eyesight is what he's got to lose! Grin. What a twit!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/05/2020 18:17

Absolute plonker! In the mean time hydroxychloroquine costs have shot up for the nhs.

MaureenMLove · 19/05/2020 18:23

I'm going to order my next lot now. I've got enough for a month, but I've seen that the UK Government have put out a tender for pharmaceutical companies to supply them, for testing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/05/2020 21:39

I think that's a very good plan indeed.
I had issues get my methoject pens this time round. Eventually got them all.

MaureenMLove · 21/05/2020 09:52

Good morning. I see the UK are starting trials on hydroxychloroquine today. There must be something in it. It's been talked about since the end of March.

We've had a letter from the CEO of our trust today, asking for medical details for screening. Obviously, I'm OK, as I have the official letter, but I do worry about those that feel they want to stay at home and don't. There's going to be a lot of Occ Health calls made next week, I think.

The next big announcement is 28th or 29th May, I believe. Hoping the shielders might actually get some direction!

MaureenMLove · 11/06/2020 21:09

Hi, how are you guys doing?

Still here, still shielding, still feeling like a fraud and still waiting for further instructions that have been promised next week!

I've told people at work that I'm available from 30th June. Can't help thinking they're going to move the goal posts.

Stopyourhavering64 · 15/06/2020 04:31

I'm in Wales and just received letter ,advised now to shield until 16th August ....another 10 weeks....Before lockdown I had just got some fitness and stamina back by going to gym/ swimming , after 3 years of ill health....I'm hoping for an exercise bike for my birthday in a fortnight!

SeeSawBreeze · 19/06/2020 04:01

In N Ireland, shielding has been paused from 31 July.
