Hypothyroidism in pregnancy - first trimester fluctuations

Hi all, just looking for some positive stories!

I have long-standing hypothyroidism (diagnosed at 16, I’m 33 now) and well aware of pregnancy-specific reference ranges etc. I had a son in 2018 and had to up my dose from 150 to 175mcg in the first trimester, then stabilised on that for the rest of the pregnancy, and reverted to 150 after the birth.

I’m now pregnant again (only 5 weeks). I started taking 175mcg as soon as I got a positive test 12 days ago but just got my bloods back and TSH as of Monday was 3.9 so above the recommended 2.5. GP has increased me again to 200mcg but I’m terrified I’ve jeopardised the pregnancy already. I have a history of recurrent miscarriage (being treated separately with prednisolone) and just kicking myself that my thyroid could have ruined my chances already. I asked GP but he didn’t really know much (standard, in my experience!)

If anyone has any reassuring stories they would be much appreciated.

Just bumping for you because I recognise you from the pregnancy thread and I would also like to hear positive stories. I have Graves’ disease and I did have an overactive thyroid but when I was tested this week my TSH was over 9. Certainly not ideal and I’m terrified that the damage has now already been done. My gp has taken me straight off my anti thyroid medication in the hope that the levels will correct themselves and I’m seeing an endocrinologist next week. In the meantime it’s a waiting game.
