Hi,

I'm just looking for a bit of a hand hold/ pain relief advice.

I'm a 19 y/o girl and I just got diagnosed with Lupus yesterday. I haven't told anyone yet.

Hi from a fellow lupie.
I was diagnosed 9 years ago.
It is a really daunting diagnosis, but, thanks to modern medicines, lupus isn't the beast it used to be, for the majority of sufferers.
Have they started you on a drug regime?
My best advice would be join lupus UK. They will send you out a new member's support pack. Look out for lical support groups, or join an online one.
There is a really good, supportive and very active group on facebook called Lupus UK Sufferers.
We have lots of young members on there too.
And the biggest single piece of health advice is learn to pace yourself. If you haven't heard of it, read The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino.

I would also start telling people. One of the biggest challenges people with invisible disabilities (especially ones like lupus where you have periods of flare and wellness) face is maintaining friendships.
Hard as a 40something, but especially difficult when you are still young.

I'll pop some links in a separate post for you xxx
