am about to be tested for Antiphospholipid syndrome because i have a history of blood clots (lung and brain).

Just wondered if anyone else has it or has been tested for it? Do you require medication? How does it affect your life?

Yes, me. History of dvt, miscarriage. Am on warfarin for life.

Crushedvelvetcouch · 15/04/2019 21:55

My mum has it, also on warfarin for life.

Other than that she's fine, aged 63.
No further clots, touch wood.
Good luck with your results OP.

I just have aspirin initiated during pregnancy and heparin injections post partum. I have heparin before and after any surgery as well but otherwise just 75mg aspirin.

I'm being tested for it - no results yet.

Only just seen these replies.. ive had a name change since this. I've just been told i have it and the consultant wants to see me in next few weeks. Is warfarin definitely necessary? Really dont want to be on blood thinners for life.

DellaPorter · 12/05/2019 00:55

Depends if you have had a clot - in which case lifelong blood thinners likely. If you have only had pregnancy complications, then you may not require treatment outside of pregnancy
