Too high dose of thyroxine?

Hello,

I was diagnosed with hashimotos hypothyroid in March a year after my first child was born. I thought i was either dying or going mad. Levels started at tsh 22.5, went down to 11 after 75mg, then they were 3.15 at last test after being on 100mg for 3 months.

I have read and been told that tsh should really be below 2 so pushed my GP to let me go up to 125mg despite the 3.15 tsh in recent tests. I am now concerned that it's too high as I'm feeling very anxious, dry eyed and a bit out of my body if that makes sense? It has only been 2 weeks onhughwe dose but I think.a 25mg increase when tab was 3.15 may be too much? Does anyone have any experience?

Thank you x

You could try dropping the 25mcg tablet to every other day. Flowers

If you are on 125mg this is massively too much- check the box, I suspect you mean mcg. The out of body and anxiety symptoms do sound like you have tipped over, especially if you are having them after only 2 weeks at the higher dose. It can be quite a slog to get the right dosage, and the absorption rates can be badly affected by food/ other medicines. Do a quick google check but the worst things for messing up my thyroxine levels are seaweed (starters from the Chinese), walnuts (coffee and walnut cake Sad is off the menu, and St John’s Wort).

Check you are not taking or eating something that will change the amount of thyroxine your body is getting and cut that out. If not then it is a case of back and forwards to doctors fine tuning the dose.

Sorry yes I do mean mcg!

Thank you for replies. I'm finding it all so frustrating as am prone to worry anyway but it makes you feel like you're going mad!

Dry eyes linked too? I will phone doc ab d ask about taking 125 one day and 100 the other.

Dry eyes are linked to under & over active. A lot of the symptoms cross over. I'd do what another poster mentioned and alternate 100/125mcg doses and see how that goes.
It took me a long time, on a steady dose, to feel normalish.
