Can anyone throw some light on my symptoms

Posted in general health and was pointed in this direction...

Went to bed feeling normal
Woke the next day with painful wrists and hands.
Didn't think much of it, just thought I'd slept funny. They eased off over the course of the day and by the time I went to bed they felt almost normal.
However, when I woke up the next day I was in pain. Again, just put it down to an awkward nights sleep. This went on for a few weeks, went to doctors who ordered blood tests. Three came back abnormal.
Liver function serum alanine aminotransferase level 62 (should be between 7-40)
Serum c reactive protein level 27 (should be between 0-6)
Esr 25mm (should be between 3-9)
He asked if I was prone to viral infections, and if I'd had any accidents. I'm not prone to viral infections and a while back I tripped up the step into the kitchen and fell on my knees. I remember hurting my knees but don't remember hurting my hands/wrists. He has now referred me to rheumatology dept at hospital.
The pain is in all joints now, my fingers feel stiff most if the time & I can't form a fist. I have swelling in my fingers, wrists and sometimes my ankles. My shoulders and tops of my arms can be extremely painful, to the point I can't raise my hands over my head. I'm not sure how I'll be waking up each morning. The pain could be a 3/10 or 10/10 there's no way of knowing.
I'm taking anti-inflammatories and paracetamol. Was taking codeine, but the constipation it gave me was horrendous.

I'm a long term user of lansoprazole (about 8 years) and I'm on hrt.

Anyone suffering similar symptoms, know what it can be, any advice?

Sorry just seen - high CRP level. Your GP has done the right thing in making the referral.

Think again about a viral infection: have you had a sore thirst lately? If it turns out to be rheumatoid arthritis, I would urge you to go with an aggressive treatment option. Unchecked it can be very disabling.

Rheumatoid arthritis bloods came back negative

The results are suggestive of an immune response, whether it's an autoimmune response remains to be seen.

Please rack your brains for a possible trigger that occurred before your first symptoms. And keep an eye out for rashes, and unusual symptoms inc changes in peeing habits. This will help the specialist make a diagnosis.

I have seronegative rheumatoid arthritis (my bloods appeared negative for RA) and the EXACT same symptoms as you!

My rheumatologist diagnosed RA from X-rays and symptoms and I now take methotrexate.

I had these symptoms, my bloods changed from negative for RA to positive in about six months. So I wouldn't read too much into that test when the bloods and symptoms are so aligned. They are quite clear inflammatory arthritis symptoms and whether it's psoriatic or rheumatoid, the treatments will be the same.

The treatments are brilliant, sound terrifying, but hitting it hard and fast is being shown to be both curative as well as treating the symptoms. I was amazed how mild my symptoms were when I came off my drugs to TTC. I'm now on much milder treatment and live a very healthy, normal life. Good luck!

I've given in tonight and taken a codeine to try and take the edge of the pain so I can try and get a decent nights sleep.

I have sero-negative arthritis as well. It sounds to me like you may have the same. You'll get the right help from the rheumatology team. I inject every two weeks with Humira to treat the disease, but there are so many options for treatment. Methotrexate can be really helpful. You may get a steroid shot at hospital to help in the short-term. Hope you get seen soon. You'll feel so relieved when you start on some treatment to make you feel better
