Thyroiditis or Hashimotos, biopsy tomorrow?

I'm having a scan and biopsy tomorrow on a lump in my neck (swelling seems to have subsided a lot). My thyroid blood test were in normal range, anyone else had this? Consultant suspects thyroiditis or Hashimotos.

Have a look at stop the thyroid madness on Facebook. Also google thyroid patient advocate uk. And back to FB, there is a Hashimotos group rerun by a pharmacist called Isabella Wentz ( I think that's right might be izabella or wertz but have a look)
Your thrroid levels may be normal or within range but they may not be optimal FOR YOU. Doc's diagnose on tsh but it's not reliable. Labs will only test free t3 and t4 and reverse t3 IF the tsh is high. Also you need your thyroid antibodies checked. Both types of antibodies.
I have hashis and have done lots of research. The above sites are great

@mytimenow sorry I'm a bit late. Yes I had this, thyroid was swollen first with 6+ nodules. Had all the hypothyroidism symptoms but bloods were normal. Then 5 months later tsh got higher and I became full blown hypothyroid. I ended up having a total thyroidectomy as nodules were pre cancerous and compressing windpipe.
All went well though. It's actually a lot more common that we think. Good luck with it all
