Recommendation for a Thyroid consultant in Hampshire?

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone can recommend an excellent Endicrine/Thyroid consultant in Hampshire please? Ideally Guildford/Portsmouth way. It can be private as we have health insurance through my husband's work.

I had my thyroid removed nearly three years ago but I'm still struggling to get things balanced.

Many thanks Smile

ThyroidUK have a list of doctors who have been vetted by members and found to be good at this sort of thing.

With no thyroid, you are more likely to struggle on standard treatment with T4 only, and more likely to need some form of combination therapy (T4 and T3).

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I will have a look at that list.

I am on T4 only. My T3 always seems be in within range so I doubt they would prescribe me T3. Plus I still suffer from palpitations and my current endo said T3 can make them worse. I am trusting he is telling the truth?!Confused

Thanks for your help.

Palpitations can be a sign of over- or under-medication.

A high in range FT4 and a low in range FT3 can be an indication of poor conversion, either because your vitamin and mineral levels are out of kilter, or because you have a genetic mutation. In the first case you need to get your 'ducks in a row'. In the second, you would need some form of combination therapy.
