Nurses working in private health - advice/info please

I’m interviewing for a job in a private hospital in Sydney. When I lived in Australia before I worked in the public system and could salary sacrifice up to $9k a year to use on almost anything - rent /mortgage was one thing or I used to put it on a card and use it for shopping.

This doesn’t seem to be the case if you work for private health. So why would anyone work for them? The pay doesn’t seem to be higher?

Any advice or info welcome!

I have two English friends who trained as nurses (mature students with children) in Sydney. Both started in public hospitals and moved to private pretty quickly. They have found private a lot less pressured, more roles available with fixed hours, generally a much nicer less chaotic work environment. I had my cancer treatment at a private hospital and it was small and calm and the nurses seemed to have a lot of time for their patients, I never really had to wait, my oncologists would happily take 20 minutes discussing the pros and cons of treatment etc. Friends who were in the public system had a very different experience. If you are comfortable saying I would be interested to hear which hospital you are applying to.
