Good morning, I just wanted to get your opinion on these activity packs I'm publishing. They're free to download to help families over the holidays. But so far, I've only had friends and families opinions on them. So what do you think? The goal is to publish '100 FREE things to do' By the end of the summer, I'm nearly half way through.

I wonder if it's the sort of thing that might be popular to give out before the summer holidays from cub scout groups or brownies?

I guess by ew, you mean you aren’t using AI. That’s great. But you still need to be aware that people are likely to wonder about this and may question where you’re coming from at a time when AI content is all around us.

I do think it’s genuinely lovely to do things like this for your own family, your own circle.

When you start thinking about publishing it to a wider audience, then it’s a little more complex. You’re not really doing anyone a service if you plunge in without really thinking it through beforehand, including properly researching things like accessibility.

There are good reasons why standards exist in areas like publishing educational or artistic materials, especially aimed at kids. To ignore that because you just like giving things a go with no expertise — again, totally nice at the family and friends level! Beyond that, not necessarily so much, unless you’re going to invest serious time in learning what you are doing. Otherwise it’s sort of implicitly devaluing the expertise of people whose actual life’s work it is.

I honestly think we question if AI has made a lot of stuff these days. It's sad. But I hate AI so no AI here. It's taken me 10 years to make and a lot of sleepless nights to get it presentable.

Thank you, I will definitely research printing and kids craft standards and accessibility. I 100% don't want to devalue someone elses life work. Would that be printers? Or game creators/publishers? Either way, they probably had to do a lot of training and a whole support team of management etc.

I'll get there 🌻🌿💚

i have just found your website. Your description of what you are doing is very confusing. You are charging for the download. I wouldn’t pay £4 for a list of activities I can find for free. https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/kids-summer-activities
https://annahardy.co.uk/40-school-holiday-ideas-that-wont-break-the-bank/ here are just 2 examples. Why would I pay for yours? Plus, the activities are only free if you already have the gear. I love the intention behind this but £4 for a list I could put together for free and in half an hour max is crazy.
If you were offering a package that was sent out with all supplies, printed sheets etc that may be more appealing, but again there are subscription boxes that already do this.

Would 'happy memories' be better? Someones already mentioned the fact that some poeple don't have pens and paper :( So I'll be changing the title to 'Low budget'

The card isn't free, it's an instant download to your phone of 110 activities. 10 of them are baking ones.

I’m sorry I know you said the cards are free and other posters have said they are free but you’ve put in the second paragraph the card isn’t free???? It sounds like a scam???

I found them! She charges for the download or physical cards - for a list of ‘free’ activities. They’re only free if you already have the stuff, a printer etc.

ClaredeBear · 29/07/2026 19:56

I think it’s great and as for the “dreadful” picture 🙄 I’m sure you can swap it out for something more summery and adjust the contrast or put some mist behind the words to make them pop. I remember when I was little, my mum used to get me something called the Humpty Dumpty Club. I loved it! Some activities included but lots were from the kitchen cupboard.

Newsenmum · 29/07/2026 19:58

What age range? A bit more colour to stand out.

Thank you, I understand now.

yeah nobody is going to pay for this? I can ask ChatGPT for things to do with my kids if I’m stuck, why would I pay?

I doubt it. SEOs on websites take time and money. I have a full time job and 2 kids. So it's a slow process getting it to the right places. But when I do, parents who need it won't need to spend time searching.

For me (and others) I don't like being on my phone around the kids too much. I prefer physical items. So the cards work better for us.

But then you’re expecting people to have access to a home printer. Quite honestly, I suspect people will keep the card images on their phones anyway.

Whettlettuce · 29/07/2026 21:37

Nobody will pay for this, you're charging for a PDF of free things most parents have the common sense to figure out or Google. There are so many reliable completely free resources available, its all very misleading to the point you'll probably be reported due to the legislation around wording and misleading titles. While I get what you're trying to do,if people dont have the money to provide the basic items needed how will they pay 4 pounds for a download to their phones that is not from a reputable verified source

ThatRareHazelTiger · 29/07/2026 21:55

Nice idea. Could you improve the colours or the picture.
