I’m teaching myself to draw. Is this any good?

To be fair, I copied it. I haven’t done any art for nearly thirty years, but I’m lately feeling the urge and it’s doing wonders for my mental health.

I’m teaching myself to draw. Is this any good?

Better than I could do!

TheShiteRunner · 23/01/2019 08:07

Bloody hell yes! It's brilliant!

8FencingWire · 23/01/2019 08:07

I think it’s good, if I achieved that, I’d be proud :)
Keep drawing x

LemonScentedStickyBat · 23/01/2019 08:07

It’s gorgeous (I know nothing of technique or anything like that but it’s beautiful to look at!)

Peepingsnowdrops · 23/01/2019 08:08

Amazing

MawkishTwaddle · 23/01/2019 08:18

Really? Thank you!

As I say, I’m teaching myself by copying, but I need to learn to do it myself or I’ll get sued!

By ‘do it myself’ I mean read a photo, learn about techniques, etc, rather than copy someone else’s interpretation.

That's very good, copied or not it's not easy so well done!

diamondofdoom · 23/01/2019 09:02

Wow that's brilliant! You have some real talent Smile

FetchezLaVache · 23/01/2019 09:04

It is absolutely brilliant, please keep at it!

nutellalove · 23/01/2019 09:11

It's fab, especially if this is your first go Smile

7Days · 23/01/2019 09:15

That is really really good.
(I do a bit of that myself and would be proud of that rabbit).

Sign and date it, put it in a frame and hang it up. It should give you a boost every time you look at it.

Dodie66 · 23/01/2019 09:23

Wow that’s brilliant. I’m an artist and I use photos and ideas from looking at other artists work. I don’t copy but use them for inspiration. Good luck. You are doing really well

7hup · 23/01/2019 09:24

Ooooh. It's lovely! Beautiful technique.

MawkishTwaddle · 23/01/2019 09:51

Wow, thanks everyone! You’ve given me a real boost to keep going!

Great picture! You have talent. I would be impressed if I could do that

Singlenotsingle · 26/03/2019 20:24

You seem to be good enough to sell your art.

Fridasrage · 26/03/2019 20:25

Its good :) The best advice i had when learning to draw was to spend 90% of your time looking and 10% of your time drawing. I started copying other drawings, then black and white photos etc.

Ohyesiam · 26/03/2019 20:27

Really good. and nothing wrong with copying, it’s a great way to hone your skills.

purpleunicorns · 26/03/2019 20:28

That's really good! I'm not too bad at drawing but only if I'm copying something, I can't seem to visualise something and get it down on paper unless I'm looking at something directly Confused

HeritageCarrot · 26/03/2019 20:28

Wow, I know nothing about art but I love rabbits and I’d buy that pic. If that’s your first effort then you must keep going as you definitely have talent. You say you’ve copied it but even so. If I copied a picture it would look like my 3 year old DGD had done it.

AstonMartini · 26/03/2019 20:30

I have taught art, and was all prepared to be underwhelmed - but this is excellent, OP. Carry on!

JaretsGirlfren · 26/03/2019 20:31

I draw a lot for a hobby but only really do cartoons, maybe the occasional flower and skull, but nothing like what you have produced- so I can’t comment on technique- but it’s beautiful and you should be proud of that, I agree with PP and think you should frame and display it Smile

2018SoFarSoGreat · 26/03/2019 20:32

really beautiful. Wow. You should be very proud. You can draw. You have natural talent.

EmmaC78 · 26/03/2019 20:33

It is very good OP. I would be delighted to draw anything even half as good as that.
