I know it's far from perfect, I am not arty in the slightest, prefer words but I saw some mandala stones on Pinterest and they were so beautiful, I couldn't resist having a go. I'm not sure where the past two hours went, I was in a trance I think😂

@Vitalogy thank goodness I'm not a Buddhist! I nearly cried when I smudged one of the hearts Grin

The paint is acrylic paint, any type is fine but certain brands, I've noticed the colours dull a fair bit when dried.

Just finished this one, I made the pattern. Went for warm colours this time, as I'm terrible for always using cold!

Grin I can imagine. Paint blob merging also a hazard I suspect.
Do you put some kind of seal over once completed and dried?

EvenFlo2 · 21/01/2018 08:12

Wow!! They are beautiful!
Can I ask what brushes you use?

CollyWombles · 21/01/2018 08:16

@Vitalogy yes, I use a clear lacquer spray. Paint blob merge is soul crushing but inevitably happens, I've accepted it now Grin

I don't use brushes. Well I do, but not the usual end! I use nail art dotting tools and the ends of paint brushes to make the dots.

I can see my craft supplies are about to get bigger...

EvenFlo2 · 21/01/2018 09:22

Also, do you water down your paint?

They are so beautiful, I can’t stop looking at them!

TossDaily · 21/01/2018 11:12

What would be the best paint to use? I have to have a go!

CollyWombles · 21/01/2018 12:46

@EvenFlo2 yes I do water down the paint. If the paint is too thick it will make a peak instead of a dome shape. If it is too thin, it will not hold it's dome shape or merge with other dots. The best thing to do is to add a bit of water, then test a dot on a bit of paper. If it doesn't form a dome add more water.

@TossDaily any artist grade acrylic paint will be fine. Most hobby shops or even discount stores will have.

I've found a set of acrylics from DS1's GCSE Art days, and bought some slate coasters to play with!

Just need the tools now. Excited!

CollyWombles · 21/01/2018 16:23

@TossDaily anything with a slightly rounded or flat circular base will do the job! The end of felt tip pens, make up brushes etc. As long as it makes a dot, you are all good Smile

Oooo lovely first attemp there! I’m gonna have a go on Friday but am expecting a big splodge!

testpickles · 22/01/2018 20:43

It's therapeutic, have a look on YouTube for videos too Wink

CollyWombles · 22/01/2018 20:51

Beautiful @TossDaily! Round pebbles are not easy, flatter ones are good to practise on though!

Thank you @EvenFlo2 just made another of my own pattern but it was an absolute mare to do, ended up near chucking it in the bin! 😂

Thanks all - I really enjoyed doing it. I think it might be addictive.

What do you use to clear smudges? I have cotton buds, but should I use white spirit or something?

CollyWombles · 22/01/2018 21:34

Might have gone a bit too bright on this one!

No white spirits, I spiral tissue into a very fine point and make sure I swipe away from other dots rather than push down which can cause the smudged paint to push up into other blobs.

It's gorgeous. You need a stall at a craft fair!

CollyWombles · 22/01/2018 22:58

Last heart for the night, going cross eyed but had a couple of sales much to my delight so need a couple to stock!

I don't drive unfortunately which makes a craft fair a bit hard but my DH does so we could maybe hire a car 😀

Hide or Keep.
I'm keeping for a bit to cheer me up then I'll hide it.
