Any jewellery makers advice regarding earrings repair?

Hi, I have a pair of lush lobes earrings circa 1990s which have lost an opal stone
I've been quoted £200 at a jewellers repair shop who said they probably won't be able to source a stone that shape. Any other advice? Thanks.

Depending on the size of the stone, you might be able to find one on Etsy. Look for opal marquise.

If you can get one, you can just glue it in with epoxy resin - the best one to use is Devcon 5 minute epoxy. The cost will be a lot less than £200!

You used to be able to buy uncut semi precious stones from eBay too.
