1st attempt at making a quilt - easy instructions anyone?

I've a fair number of fabric scraps and fancy making a quilt. I've got the top layout on paper and need advice on making/sandwiching it all together. Ideas on how to do this, what type of wadding gratefully receieved.

I bought this book to help with mine after recommendations on here and elsewhere. It will tell you the things you were asking! But there is lots of stuff online too.
