Washing something to set the dye

I bought a handmade naturally woven rug yesterday which I was advised needs washing on a cold cycle to set the dye before use.

Would a rinse cycle be sufficient or does it have to be a proper wash cycle? And is it best to wash it on delicate? Do I put detergent in?

(Should probably have asked this of the stallholder - oh well!)

I would just do a cold wash cycle, no detergent and maybe some salt, as you use salt in Dylon to set the colour.

Cold, standard wash cycle. No detergent. Plenty of salt. Slow spin.

and, did it survive?

Oh, I haven't done it yet - only have salt in a grinder thing so going to get some proper table salt before I do

you need about 500gms of salt so get a big one.
