I have some rolls of Modroc ( plaster of paris 'bandages')and would love to make something fantastic out of them. I am also having 2 ten year olds for a couple of days over the half term hols and would love for them to get involved too.

We will be working outdoors if at all possible so mess isnt a problem.

just be aware of this

How about making tribal masks or similar?

Thanks for the link dancingmummy -it always pays to be aware of the dangers .

I have used Modroc before with a class of 7 year olds so have some experience but this was for a definite purpose (which I now cannot recall) but am lacking in the creative department at the moment. I do remember looking aghast at a group of children all holding up caked hands (it's rapidly drying stuff ) and simultaneously listening to the fire alarm ringing. Shepherding a classroom of children out to the field while at the same time organising buckets of water for handwashing has probably gone some way to erasing whatever the outcome was.

Masks will probably be one of the things the girls will want to make. Anyone know if draping over a balloon is feasible?

covering balloons with it is sort of fun, or wrapping around cylinder type things to make vases.

you can do hands but really put vaseline on. we've also done faces but probably not advised

Oooh Vases -that's a good idea. Thanks for that
