crinkle crackle fabric

anyone know where i can buy the crackle material found in babies toys, fabric books etc? ds loves it could i use gift wrap cellophane off flowers etc or would that be bad for him if he chewed toy i made? sorry if question already answered elsewhere.

I made an activity blanket once & sewed some crinkly sounding plastic into the butterfly wings. Has always washed well & stayed "crinkly". No idea what I used though.
