some recipes do, some don't (I think)

do a google for "salt dough" recipe and it'll bake

Nbg · 04/08/2005 14:11

Thanks.

I made some today for the first time and I think that was salt dough.

Will go and google now.

We made salt dough christmas decorations last year and it bakes solid, painted and they covered in glitter, all very glittery, everywhere!!!!

DS1 made a massive salt dough tree thing when he was little, we have to position it very carefully on the tree or it will drag it over! It really is horrible

Did you both paint after cooking?

I was hoping that I could put food colouring in the mixture before cooking to save messing with paints!

I actually spray painted silver and gold afterwards, but I guess you could put food colouring in but the colour may not be that true. Agree with bubblerock, they can be quite heavy so make them small. My dd's loved doing it last year so will probably make some more this year.

Because I made it today I got out all the pastry cutters I had and alot of them are xmas ones.
They are quite small, stars, holly and trees.

I'm quite excited about doing them. I think they'll make lovely little pressies.
