My 4 month old little girl seems to like snuggling up to a muslin... I would love to customise one for her to turn it into something special for her comforter-style and well...a little less boring!!! I was thinking appliqueing (hmmmm, not sure I have spelt that right, lol!)something on one, like a little elephant or something???Brainstorming out loud here, anyone got any ideas???

If you do decide to personalise muslins do more than 1 - we have 20 muslins for DD and we just coloured them 2 different colours - she will not have any other brand and knows her labels and their feel. Be sure to have a number that can be washed and swapped about muslins get dirty and smelly very very quickly!

some nice felt shapes would brighten it up. how about a few more ribbon tags around the edge? babies love to chew and fidget with these.

DS is 4 and still sleeps with a muslin. Mostly his are all white(well more grey now). I'm glad we have a stock of them all the same so that he can have a clean one every few days.

muslins are great, we have 3 different ones (types) in our house4 and they all are which but different and they all know there own!

ds1 (now 6) only uses his when he is very very tired and unwell in bed

dts (now 3) have the same ones and take them to bed every night (dt2 will sometimes ask for his during the day when he is unwell or upset)

ds3 (now 15 mths) has one hanging around all over the pave and likes to chew it as well

Never felt the need to jazz them up though!

My Ds has a flannel/brushed cotton comforter doll thing. It was shop bought (a gift) but I have never found another which is a shame as I have to wash & dry it same day - not always easy, he was ill recently & sick in the night so had to go without. DS1 has a comforter from Tesco so he has several on the go!

I have thought about making one as it would be very easy but have never got round to it.

Basically it is 2 squares of fabric gathered in the middle & stuffed to make a head. The face is printed on but you could stitch it. Then the corners of the bottom square are knotted to make arms/legs. Thw top square is then like a dress. (DS's is decorated)

Another idea would be to sew some bias binding or ribbon around the edges, then you can make a few so you will always have a spare to hand.
