Very easy fabric flowers

I'm thinking of having a flower party where we sit about making little fabric flowers from scraps of matierial for my wedding, and my far-off friends could send flowers they have made. I love the idea of wearing loads of flowers made by people, kind of like they are sending their blessings.

So, does anyone have a very easy pattern for hand sewn flowers? I'd like rose style ones, but any could work really.

Would you need a pattern?

I would just get lots of oddments of nice felt and other fabrics which would then be easy to cut into petal shapes

You could glue or sew buttons in the middle and attach ribbon to them which would also be a nice touch....

singed flowers look really pretty and are easy to make - using synthetic fabrics - just cut out lots of different sized circles and hold the edges of the petals close to a candle flame - make sure you have a bowl of water handy in case they burst into flames {you soon get to know how close you need to get to the flame!} - take a few petals and sew together with beads/buttons in the center - cheap easy and fun!
