I thought it would be nice for my ds to make something himself for my dad for his 60th that would be something he can keep.
but i am hopeless at being creative - but i can follow instructions! any ideas?
thanks!
ps we need to make it in next couple of days!

Get him to paint/crayon/stick a lovely picture then frame it.

Bright kids pictures always look good in white frames with a white mount.

Yes, a picture always nice.

When older, also good is to buy plain cards and get your kids to do a picture. It's always appreciated far more than some Hallmark horror.

Something using handprints?

Decorate a t-shirt or pillowcase with fabric crayons (or scan a drawing and print it onto transfer paper).

Hi I got some glass paints and drew around a my ds's hand on an old jam jar. He coloured it in. Was very easy.

Also found some transfers in hobbycraft, like acetate which you can draw on and then sticks to the jam jar.

Another idea is to do a handprint in clay leave overnight to dry and your child can have fun painting it. Then spray with a fixer (craft shop) and use a picture stand (pound shop) to stand it upright. Did this for my dh 40th.

Really sweet reminder and can be used for holding srews or nails or useful bits and bobs.

I had DS's handprints done on coasters once which were then glazed and fired to make them permanent for the GP's.

You just need to find a place that does ceramic painting.

They clear up the mess then too

thank you ladies..
we have a pottery cafe near us so all the gp's have had got pretty much every crockery item going with hand and footprints from the dc but if i can persuade ds into it maybe we will do a handprint picture to frame - hey i even had a fleeting creative thought myself that he could do hand prints all around the edge to make a border!
wow maybe i should come onto the arts and crafts thread more often..

DS and I had fun blowing bubbles into a bowl of watered down paint with a squidge of washing up liquid in it the other day.

When you have a lovely big pile of bubbles erupting out of your bowl, you squash a bit of paper down on top.

Great fun and makes a lovely picture. Let it dry then go over again with another colour or two for a proper 'artwork'

get (your son) to take lots of picture of things that are important to him, then make a collage of them.

will be funny to look back on in years to come
