Should I felt this cardigan, and if so, how??

I have a brown 100% wool cardigan from Zara that was mine (so womenswear, in a size medium).

Washing instructions are hand wash up to 30C - I'm sure this is what I did, but it's shrunk a bit. Enough for it to now be too tight for me.

I was thinking of boil washing it to felt it into a little cardigan that might be good for DS but I haven't done this before so don't know how small it would go, nor how to do it (I presume just put in machine at 90C?).

But I'm concerned it might end up very thick and heavy and not really something DS would wear - maybe it would be worth using to make something else, either as is or felted.

Anyone got any tips or done something similar?

Here's how to felt

I think that the cardi may be too stiff/small for your DS. Betz White has some nice felted ideas.

You could also make an easy cushion cover with it now by turning the cardi inside out and stitching round it. Trim off arms and excess. Use the buttoned section when putting in a cushion pad.
