There's one on Folksy they are dead easy really. Not that that woollen one is very pretty, but you could do them with that scoubidou stuff instead.

this is the way I used to make them (version 3) or this way for an arrow.
Embroidery thread was the best thing to use.

Cant you just 'finger knit' a friendship bracelet?

put a loop of knotted thread on your index finger wind another unkotted loop round and pull knotted one over?
