Help - knitting.

A friend has asked me to knit this hat for her baby.

I told her she needed to get me 8-ply wool, and she dropped it round yesterday when I was out. I've just got ready to start knitting and found she's bought DK. So, can I adjust the pattern to be done with DK? Can anyone help me do it?

Or do I have to get her to go and change it for 8-ply?

8-ply is equivalent to DK. I think it's the Australian term. So you should be OK with what you've got.

What's the recommended gauge on the yarn that she's bought?
