Glue gun question

I just bought a glue gun and was wondering, once it warms up, if I use it for a small thing only, do I lose the rest of the glue in the stick thingy? I mean, is the rest of the glue stuff useless afterwards of can I re-use it on another occasion?

You can reuse it. And when it gets a bit short you stick a new one on the end to push the end of the last one forward.

Be very, very careful though. Every time I use a glue gun I get hideous burns.
