Anyone made a rug via the latch hook method?

Did you buy your yarn on line, precut? Or cut your own?

I am thinking about making a small rug for the foot of the stairs, about door mat sized. We have an inbuilt coir mat at the door, then laminate floor. The idea of this rug will be to prevent grubby feet going upstairs (for those who don't take off SHOES!!

Because it will be a mucky feet rug, not an heirloom, should I make it with nylon wool as it would be useful if it were washable!

What do you think? Any hints or tips?

Mine was precut 100% wool, I didn't realise you could get nylon rug 'wool' too.

yes but a very long time ago. you need really thick wool for a thick finish.

I got precut artificial wool for my first - and it was a lot easier than cutting wool, and is very durable. I'm not sure if it was the wool or the hook (which began to fall apart) but my fingers got shredded.
