Right I have tonight and tomorrow to make something. DS already has a suit and a badge that he's going to wear. What would you do with regards to the tail and the head?

plastic headband (tesco) with paper or felt ears attached. strip of fabric for tail.

A head band covered in fur fabric with some pointy ears and facepaint. There are some face paint ideas here that could be simplified
Some of them aren't in English but it doesn't matter as it's pretty clear what they are doing!

The tail could be make using the same fur fabric and pinned to DS's trousers, or if you are feeling ambitious you could wire it so that it stands up. You'd need to make a waistband to make this work though, or attach it to a sturdy belt somehow.

Ooh the face paint is a great idea. I've got a brush thing that I could use for a tail but it's white. Do you think that will be ok or should I try and dye it brown?

Should I get him to carry something? Was thinking about a rubber chicken but not sure if I can get one of those - shopping options are limited. Not even sure I can get him any fur or felt.

I'd use the white brush thing. You could always darken the edges with paint applied with an old mascara brush or even mascara itself!

You can normally get rubber chickens or similar in pet shops, if that's any help.
