Just sort of getting started on a couple of bits (nesting I think) and realising my sewing box is woefully inadequate...I mean, HOW have i coped without a tape measure for so long?!! (or do I have several stashed elsewhere and pghead has forgotten them?!! )
So, can anyone recommend a good website for ordering such bits and pieces please?
Things like stencil brushes, long fabric ruler, that sort of thing...

And do I REALLY need a cutting board? They seem expensive...can I do it with a yardsticky/ruler thing and a tape measure?

have you looked on ebay?

i also pick up lots of bits and bobs from car boots sales. i got a big tin full of cottons one day for £1 once.

their is a habby stall at my local market that is nce and chea and has a reasonable amount of things.

although i now seem to have more habadashery and fabric than my local shops do........

here

I've found patterns, sewing bits'n'bobs and my new sewing machine on this website. Came recommended by my sewing tutor.

Perhaps tutor wasn't quite the right word! I've just finished 12 months of classes, the group size varied from week to week, anything from 6 to 20 people. You just took along what you wanted to make and the tutor gave you guidance and helped sort things out when they went wrong.

Not sure about the idea of on-to-one tuition, one of the best things about the class I did was finding out what other people were up to. But I'm just born nosey!

Happy sewing

Very speedy and reliable service here

They also stock a DVD sewing tutorial - may be too basic for you though

is there a good place on-line to get buttons? I've been decorating cushions with pretty mother of pearl ones, but think that there must be somewhere cheaper to buy them in large numbers?

StillCounting · 09/02/2010 22:49

How about here for buttons?

StillCounting · 09/02/2010 22:51
