embroidery hoop the same as an embroidery frame?

Am just getting into embroidery- or tapestry and am confused as to whether I need to get a tapestry frame to use; so far my projects have been really simple things and I have been using a hoop to hold my work in place. If I get a bigger, heavier kits ie from ehrman's or jolly red, will I need a frame instead?
thanks for advice!

A hoop is smaller and is designed for creating smaller pieces of embroidery (ie, on a t-shirt), the frame is alot larger and for tapestry (so helpful if you wish to make something large, like a hanging). You can get hoops in different diameters.

You are right
