Advice on buying a present for a friend who knits

I'd like to buy a present for a good friend who lives in Canada. I'm in the UK, so we don't see each other often any more, so buying books or music for her would be tricky as I don't know what she has.

She's a keen knitter and so I wondered if I could buy her something related to that. I've heard other friends who knit talk about lovely wooden needles and circular needles and so forth, but I don't knit and so need all the help I can get.

Ideally, I'd buy it online and it'll need to be reasonably light so I can post it, but my budget is £15-25, I suppose.

Any ideas?

It's difficult to advise without knowing what kind of knitting she is into at the moment.
One thought occurred to me, though, was that you could order something from the internet in Canada and have it sent straight to her.
Or maybe you could send her the latest issue of The Knitter magazine or have it sent direct to her.

Something else I thought of: you could find out where her local yarn store is (I could do that for you through Ravelry) and ask them to send her a gift token from the store.

Good ideas from DutchOma.

I've just treated myself to one of these

What about a needle case like this. Would be fairly light to post, or just get it sent direct.
I lived in Toronto for a while and they have some lovely knitting shops with, in general, more choice and better quality than in the UK, so as DutchOma says it might be an idea to arrange a gift token from her LYS (that's Local Yarn Store- probably used on knitting forums as much as PFB is on here!)

These suggestions are all brilliant - thank you so much everyone, especially as there wasn't much information to go on. I've followed the link in FM's post and there's a lovely case with bamboo needles that I think might be just the thing. Thanks again.
