I want to buy a sewing machine - which one please?

I haven't used a sewing machine since I did O level needle work years ago, but need some new cushions. I figured it would be cheaper to buy a sewing machine and try to do them myself.

I've seen this one. Will it do the job?

TIA

It looks really pretty but probably won't be very sturdy.

Buy a secondhand singer.

That's a nice little machine, but as Badromance says, probably only for fairly light work. I had a Brother one for years which has never had any problems.

I've had

You may as well get a proper one - Janome are good and not as expensive as Singer.

Why not go to JL and get them to demo them for you, that's what I did with mine. They'll be happy to do it.

I do think that if you want to do anything more substantial than cushions, you'll need something better.

Thanks ladies. They have Janome ones on special purchase so will take a look

I asked a similar question, and the Janome 525s was recommended.
