Quick Urgent Question for Knitters

Have decided I've had enough of dozing at my desk and I'm going to nip to John Lewis for some fabulous yarn for a jumper for either me or DS.

Obviously I have no patterns to hand, and haven't knitted in a while.

So, how much yarn for a 6yo boy's jumper - assuming DK?

And ditto for a 40yo tunic-y thing for a grown up?

TIA

Might be too late, but have a look at this fab website which has loads of patterns and you can find some idea of how much you'll need to buy.

Did you go? Was there a yarn sale on?

If I'd have caught you in time I would have said about 6-8 balls depending on the type of jumper and weight of yarn.

Throw any knitting questions my way and I'd be glad to help.
