I don't have a sewing machine, but having just made (handsewn) a simple felt ball for my baby, have remembered how much I enjoy doing things like this. Any recommendations for a book of baby related craft/ sewing projects? Many thanks.

The Guardian has a craft section at: www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/craft

You will have to scroll back a bit to get the baby thins, but have a look at :

www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/gallery/2009/jun/23/making-windmill-guide (my DS loves his windmill - tho' must admit it is not one I have made)

Some good stuff on embroidery techniques starts at: www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/craft?page=5

And: www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/may/05/make-felt-toys-baby

Your local library may have some craft books?

I bought some white felt, black felt and black embroidery thread, velcro and tried to make a "pin the spider on the web" for our Hallowe'en party. Of course, very little was done with the web (thankfully, it was a fine afternoon/evening, so we went out in the garden), but the web is still extant, and I am considering how to use it. Will be happy to give more details, but only if you are interested.

Another Hallowe'en party fun treat, which was quite easy was white felt (cut out ghosts), buttons (safety-pinned to top of ghost to weight them), elastic thread and a rod... to go "fishing/(d)angling for toddlers) - also for those who cannot walk. That was quite a lot of fun.

Thanks. I like the guardian ideas. Will have a go at some monsters!

My son has a monster which has a HUGE mouth, and rather than being frightened by it, loves shouting "Teeth!"at it.

BTW, I must admit I didn't make the monster, but just wanted to say teeth are great!
