Fabric for cushions

I want to make a couple of large floor cushions but its the first time I've tried anything like this.

What's the best type of material to use for cushions? And a good place to buy it online?

You need something hardwearing so not light cottons/quilting type, equally silky satin stuff no good as it would slip everywhere.
Upholstery fabric would be the most hardwearing but possibly not as comfortable.
I made a big floor cushion at uni with some vinyl/fake leather on one side (for wiping booze off) and some curtain fabric on the other as it would last then.

Try fabricland
You can't order on the site but have to call and order over the phone, but the bonus is that they are all really nice and will go and check suitability of fabric for you so you know it is what you need.

denim is good. you can get it cheap on ebay sometimes.

Hardwearing heavy washable cotton is best. I would get the fabric from ikea (not sure if you can get it online though).

if you look in curtain materials for 100% cotton on ebay you should get something thick.

Thanks very much, will go & have a look on ebay. Much easier now I know what to look for

Cotton drill or corderoy are strong and hard wearing too

I've been to ikea today and was amazed by what a good, reasonably priced, selection they had. I bought really lovely patterned quite tough cotton at 3.99 per metre to make cushions for the dcs room and some great red and white stripe cotton which I think I'm going to make kitchen blinds from. Go there if it's not too inconvenient.

Will definitely try Ikea, just have to persuade dh to go there...
