Bracelet of buttons?!

My sisters and s-in-laws have all decided to make homemade gifts for each other this year.

I just wondered - would a bracelet made of buttons look nice?!

I'm not really sure why it came to me, just thought it might be a bit different from beads..!

If you found some really lovely buttons in different textures and colours it could look really lovely. You'd need quite a lot of buttons though as they tend to be thinner than beads - although you could do a bit of mix and match I suppose. Definitely worth a go

Thanks - that's what I thought!

I'm off to a haberdashery department tomorrow - yippee!

You can do them flt too - that looks really nice - I have seen
the same colour but different sizes
The same size but different shades
Multicoloured/multisized

Good luck - they look like fun

Not bracelet, but my dd got a lovely gift of some hair clips with buttons on recently. They are just plain kirby grips (think that's what they're called) with two lovely buttons glued on. The buttons are small pearl ones and a pale blue one. They look really nice - and would probably be cheap as chips to make!

Hmmmm - thanks Katy - that's got me thinking..!

I've actually asked for a necklace made of buttons that I spotted in John Lewis, I think they had bracelets too. And I'm sure a home-made one would be nicer and not cost as much! john lewis necklace

More ideas would be much appreciated!

kiwibella · 19/11/2009 12:50

shame, hope you feel better soon! You could be super organised for next year with the poppies? Or festive by adding some green? I made poppies this year. A little too inspired by x-factor, perhaps .

YOu could check in your local charity shops for buttons too - I noticed that my local Oxfam had some boxes of buttons for sale - presumably if clothes aren't worth selling or passing on, they cut the buttons off and sell those for crafters to use.

For easy homemade gifts, see this
(don't know if that's the right way to link to it- hope it works!)
