Anyone made a fabric tote shopping bag using an online sewing pattern?

I'm after an easy to sew pattern to make up a tote shopping bag (if end product looks decent I might give to my Mum as a Christmas present).

I'm fairly basic in my sewing skills but want to see how I get on with a useful project, and perhaps unleash my creative skills!

Thanks everyone

try this page for inspiration. I made a couple of tote style bags recently and they really were very easy, as long as you can sew a straight line! myhalfofthebrain.wordpress.com/category/tote/page/2/

You could buy a plain bag and just decorate it yourself. Use jewels, beads, fabric paints etc. Saves all that fiddling around with sewing machines.
