Can you use cross stitch to make a cushion?

Title says it all really I want to make some cushion covers and can do cross stitch but have never done tapestry would cross stitch be ok to use?

Yes, you can probably get a kit to make the cover, and then you attach it to fabric at the back and put a zip in. I have done this.

You can do several designs big enough to make a cushion or at least part of a cushion and then it is just piecing the fabric together.

my dd was given a beautiful cushion when she was born. It has a lovely teddy bear cross-stitch with her name and dob on it. This has been sewn directly on to the cushion cover.

I was very tentative putting it in the wash for the first time recently but it came up a treat!!
