Can I just have a little virtual pat on the back for getting my sewing machine working tonight for the first time despite owning it for 3 years?

I did it!
Today is a big day.
I'm not even sure what the word is. Did I thread it up? or set it up?
I even put thread on the little spool that goes in the bottom bit.
I've had a little practise on some folded material and it all seems to be working nicely.

Yipee!

All set for my second beginners sewing class on monday when i'm taking my own machine and we are going to make a bag.

Maggie, that's not a fantasy, my fave bag (on my profile, the black with orange jewelled sari lining, always gets compliments. I have been able to say 'Oh, I made this' loads of times.
Unfortunately now a friend has hired me to make her a changing bag for her new baby and I am bricking it to make sure it is perfect!

dragonbutter, thats so cool.
We should start a craft club to show off our fabulous achievements. Or at least talk about them (again for another year).

I have taught myself to crochet Granny squares this summer but still find it very confusing. I have made 3 x 10cm only another 200 or so to go

Hopefully, where do you learn to patchwork?

Wow JackBauer, those bags are gorgeous. I like making cakes too actually, not as good as yours. But it's nice to have evidence that is not scoffed in half an hour of handiwork!
