Making a Roman Blind : hooked on Kirstie's homemade home programme

I have owned a sewing machine for years and only used it 5 times!!!
After watching Kirstie's homemade house I have been inspired to make some roman blinds. Truthfully How easy are they to make ???
I am very much a beginner so will be starting with the small bathroom window but would really like to dress my main bay window at the front of the house.

We have quite a few fabric discount shops in the area and this is what is also appealling. I really don't want to fork out a lot of money when I could make them myself (well in theory anyway)
Am I being too ambitious and should I just head to the nearest blind shop?

I have made them before and they are really easy - just a matter of sewing a straight line. There must be tips for the top and how to make your strings pull neatly though. I found that really difficult.

I loved the Kirstie series too and got all inspired... but yet to do anything to personalise our house.

Very easy - it is all straight(ish) lines and the key is in the measuring and spacing of the batons. Then you just hand sew the rings and thread the cord up and across through eyelets at the top. Very little waste fabric too. Details here or you can buy a kit.

Really easy, but consider making 2 for a wide window as they tend to 'sag' a bit in the middle of very wide windows.
