Dd wants to make something. I can't go out today so it needs to be with things I can find around the house.

Thanks.

magic painting

you draw a picture using a candle or white or pale colour crayon

then dd uses a very watery paint or water colour to find the message or picture

ie a big smiley or
an I love you message

Amapoleon · 27/08/2009 13:06

tis okay

leaf rubbing is another really good one
and you can cut out the leaf pictures and use them as labels and decorate cards

BlueChampagne · 02/09/2009 13:29

Sticking - any stray feathers, bits of wool, fabric, interesting paper/card esp cut into different shapes, packaging (bubble wrap, fruit nets), ribbon, pasta, lentils, leaves - all you need to supply is card and glue.

Make collage with food stuffs, such as rice, pasta, lentils etc & sticking them onto paper/card

if you have Penne or Macaroni indoors paint or draw patterns onto the tubes & then string as beads (this one can keep them busy for hours Grin

make paper doilies by folding & cutting holes & unfolding to show patters....these can be stuck onto a backing, or sprayed through with paint to make a pattern

you can make a spray gun/air brush gadget with a small bottle half full of liquid paint(watered down) , & a drinking straw...cut straw part through just above bottle neck & bend backwards.....blow through end & it will draw paint up through straw, but blow it out of the "cut" & over your paper........lay any washable objects onto paper & blow paint over to make pictures/patterns

Wet paint onto paper, ...blow with a straw (or pen barrel) to run it around & make patterns....fold & open to reveal mirror image pattern....let dry & use felt tip drawn lines to make into animals, objects etc

The spraygun is an excellent idea! Will definitely be trying that!

We are going to do threading/necklaces with penne pasta. Might even let ds paint them first if i can be arsed.

Adair · 20/01/2011 10:35

oops, just seen that rockinhippy already suggested that!

paper chains with cut up magazines. or collages of 'things I like' or shades of the same colour etc.
