Flower pressing - advice needed for a FPing virgin!!

A friend has lent us a flower presser and dd and I are about to go out to select victims.

BUT...we have no idea about how to do it. We will google it for tips, but are there any basic laws and pit falls to avoid?? We have a wooden one with screw-down mechanics - looks quite old. So any pointers please??

tia.

use nice clean blotting paper between the cardboard

choose flowers that are bright colours and aren't too juicy (dandelions are crap, buttercups work well)

lay them on the paper in different orientations (ie a buttercup head 'face down' will come out quite differently to one with a stem and leaves laid on its side)

remember the 3D shape will go (bluebells look shite when pressed as you lose the pretty turned-up edge)
