I'm sure this is obvious to someone with any know how! I'm just making a cake for Saturday lunch time, and am wondering if I can 'compile' it now, if I do, how do I keep it. It is a swiss roll, covered in buttercream with various sugarpaste, and fairy cake creatures on it. Will everything stay fresh, and if I refrigerate it for the buttercream, will the sugarpaste get too cold? I'm very pleased with it so far, it's just in pieces! Thanks.

I'd leave it until Fri night Laurenypops. Keep the buttercream in the fridge but take it out a couple of hours beforehand.

Once assembled, pop back in the fridge but take out a couple of hours before eating. PS: if using smarties, stick them on as late as poss as they tend to 'leak' colour.
Good luck!
