I would like to make a DALEK

It would need to be big enough for a child to fit in and make it move arround, any suggestions?

Hmmm you'd need to start with some kind of chair or stool on wheels which might not be easy. One you stand up in might be easier.

Then build the main shape out of cardboard from big cardboard boxes. Balls cut in half (maybe cheap ping pong balls, or you can get craft polystyrene balls) for the "bumps" and a plastic washing up bowl or curved mixing bowl for the top - plus of course the sink plunger. Lots of silver paint! It's a big job I think.

You can also just buy one which honestly might work out cheaper in this case - though less fun

I do not want to buy one because part of the fun of making it will be to make the most of the rainy weather indoors.

DS3 is 5 today and received a sonic screw driver (do not ask me what it is , the DCs are the DR's nut fans) We just need a Dalek to make play a bit more lively!

The Blue Peter website has a recipe for a dalek cake (I know it's not what you wanted but hey, cake is always good. I made it for DH's birthday and he was v impressed)

Oh, a Dalek cake! I hope one of them will still like Dr who for there next birthday! we already had DS cake this morning as we "traditionnally" do the cake bit for breakfast on their birthday! I did think about a Tardis one but not a Dalek one! Ds just wanted a boring round victora sponge cake that DH and I made last night!

Just thought about using bits of Egg boxes to make the "bumps". Now I just have to find enough cardboard to "cover a child"!
