I am looking at getting the Janome XL-30 as I have seen it for £279 with 5 year parts, labour and collection/delivery guarantee. It has 30 stitches, speed control, is computerised.

I don't to want get a massively fancy/expensive machine in case I don't end up using it as much as I'd envisaged. I can already sew and have got a Brother PS-55 which I find a bit basic and not so great quality, so I'm looking to upgrade a bit.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

janomes are very nice and the 30 stitches should suit most sewing jobs. I had a basic sewing machine for 20 years and made everything including jeans and jackets plus formal wear. used to do my own bras until the needed industrial strength holders.

i lashed out on ebay when the first machine needed to retire and got a top of the range janome and its very nice.

that machine sounds fine and should last you a while.
