I finished a mosaic tonight.
I'll grout it tomorrow and it goes in an exhibition on sunday.
Yay. What a relief to get it finished.

Pics on my profile.

Also, if anyone sees MrVibrating around can you direct him to this thread as he helped alot with the design. There's some ancient egyptian astronomy explained in the mosaic. Ver ver complicated.

Good for you for standing up for yourself. Well done. I'll send out good karma vibes or whatever is needed to knock this on the head for you!

TrillianAstra · 20/05/2009 20:50

Oh well done, I knew this would be you and your mosaic!

Jux · 20/05/2009 20:52

That's fantastic, well done.

Is there a bigger pic? We'd be v v v interested in seeing the ancient egyptian astronomy. Pretty please?

StealthPolarBear · 20/05/2009 20:54

I wondered if this would be you!
Well done, it looks fantastic! Enjoy your wine

nevergoogledragonbutter · 20/05/2009 20:56

mumsnet shrunk the picture because the file was too big.
there will probably be a pic on the exhibition website next week, which might be bigger.

the astronomy part is the stars in the centre of the mosaic straight up from the apex of the main pyramid.
kochab and mizar were the stars the egyptians used to line up the pyramids to face north.
they lined up to these stars because they were always visible and therefore called the indesctructibles. the kings would then join the everlasting stars int he afterlife.

i have to borrow a decent camera to take some decent pics on friday so will see if i can upload them.

I was being lazy; there's nothing wrong with google maps. If it's the same road, then we'll be taking dd to the cinema there and I'll make sure we visit the gallery - dd will be v excited to see it in real life.

[wipes sweat off brow, thank goodness something else to do in half term]

nevergoogledragonbutter · 21/05/2009 19:07

really? how old is dd?

It's FABULOUS !!!!

Jux · 21/05/2009 19:23

She's 9. The Gallery is up the other end, but near her favourite shop.

MrsMerryHenry · 24/05/2009 21:43

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, dragonbutter! How'd the exhibition go today?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 24/05/2009 21:53

oh hello, yes it was good, apart from having to go cycling in the woods beforehand and then get into my 'private viewing' outfit (ooh er) in the car park.

it was so interesting to see what everyone else had made having been given the same theme iyswim.
they were all very good (minus one or two) and mine didn't look too out of place or amateurish.

stayed away from the wine too, so chuffed with my self control . got a bit squiffy last year.

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 24/05/2009 21:54

are you ok?

OP posts:
MrsMerryHenry · 24/05/2009 21:58

Yeah, I'm fine, but just irritated with whatever's happening with my cycle. I just don't know if I'm pregnant or not, having had lots of symptoms 3 weeks or so ago. Everything I read seems to say 'maybe you are...and then again maybe you're not'. I've learned not to trust pregnancy tests now. I think I need to stop thinking about it and hope the time whizzes by until my next period is due.

Glad it went well and that you are still proud of your beautiful piece of work. What's going on in the rest of your working life, is it going to be a slow process to get things sorted out?

nevergoogledragonbutter · 24/05/2009 21:59

hang on, i'm having a weep on natalie okri's behalf.
with you in a minute.

MrsMerryHenry · 24/05/2009 22:01

Don't worry - I need to spend some time with DH tonight.

Who's Natalie Okri? Are you watching Britain's Got Talent? Or 'Congratulations! You're still in the running...'

Chat to you another day, monkey, awrigh'?

MrsMerryHenry · 24/05/2009 22:18

Right, DH is watching Starship Troopers.

You back yet?

Tortington · 24/05/2009 22:21

thats amazing

MrsMerryHenry · 24/05/2009 22:21

I know. Starship Troopers. Tsk. Amazing indeed.

Tortington · 24/05/2009 22:26
